All Harry Potter books ranked (according to me) + my favourite quotes

It was a long journey for me when I finally started to read Harry Potter books. I saw all the movies first so the story wasn't a secret for me. But I don't mind spoilers. And as you probably know (if you've read the books) the story is more detailed and it makes more sense. Also a lot of interesting characters were cut off the movies or were only mentioned there. So if you like Harry Potter world I recommend you to read the books. It lasted me 2 months to read all the books. Note, I ranked the books only by my personal feelings and how I liked the story in it. The text might contain some spoilers.

No. 7: The Chamber of Secrets

Why is this book my least favourite one? It's really hard to say because I loved all the books. Maybe because the main story is more in the background. Even it has some important parts, for example Harry destroys one of the horcrux (although he knows nothing about them yet). And I guess we all love parts with Gilderoy Lockhart. Well, one of the books has to be no. 7, right?

No. 6: The Order of the Phoenix

Well, this might be unpopular opinion but I didn't like The Order of the Phoenix that much. I think it's mostly because Dolores Umbridge. To be honest, I think she is the most hated villain. And also Sirius Black is killed by Bellatrix. Who would like that? But this book is important for one reason. That the wizarding community has to accept that Voldemort is back. It's also the longest book of all.

No. 5: The Philosopher's Stone

The book where everything started. I like how the biggest problem for Harry there is only annoying Draco Malfoy. Harry meets his best friends Ron and Hermione and everything is fine until Harry has to face Voldemort's power for the first time. I just like this book because it's an entry to the magic world and we discover everything together with Harry.

No. 4: The Deathly Hallows

Yes, the last book in the series isn't in my top 3. Why? Because in the beginning of the book isn't so much happening. Harry, Ron and Hermione try to find the horcruxes and they don't know where. They run away from Death eathers and they are arguing all the time. Also many great characters die in the battle of Hogwarts. But the end in the book is better written than in the movie. And (for me) the highlight of the book is when the history of Severus Snape is revealed.

No. 3: The Half-Blood Prince

I loved this book specially because of the origin story of Voldemort. It was interesting to read how he became what he is now. Somehow you have to pity him a bit. It's also interesting how Tom Riddle's story is similar to Harry's one in many ways. I also felt sorry for Draco and his job to kill Dumbledore. I think this is the part when you start to like Draco (if you didn't like him before) and see he's not bad at all.

No. 2: The Prisoner of the Azkaban

Why did this book win over The Half-Blood Prince? It's easy. Because we meet two amazing and important characters here: Remus Lupin, the best the Defence against the dark arts teacher, and Sirius Black, Harry's godfather. We also find more about James, Harry's dad. You feel like Harry could finally  have a normal life with his godfather (if you shouldn't know the rest of the story). I also like that we meet the Dementors for the first time and Harry learns the Patronus charm (very important in the story).

No. 1: The Goblet of Fire

Ok, there is no other book left than The Goblet of Fire. I enjoyed this book the most. I love how we meet also other wizarding schools: Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. This book is also very different from the movie. The most important thing is that Voldemort raises again at the end of the book. And he also finds out that killing Harry won't be as easy as he thinks. Also in this book Harry witnesses the savage death of his friend. Simply everything changes after this book and Harry and his friends find out that they have to fight or they will die.

At the end some of my favourite quotes:
"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." ― Albus Dumbledore
"Hearing voices no one else can hear isn’t a good sign, even in the wizarding world." — Ron Weasley
"We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are." ― Sirius Black
"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect." ― Luna Lovegood.
"We must all face the choice between what is right, and what is easy." — Albus Dumbledore
"'The thing about growing up with Fred and George is that you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.'" — Ginny Weasley
"It is the quality of one’s convictions that determines success, not the number of followers." — Remus Lupin
"'After all this time?' 'Always,' said Snape."
"Not my daughter, you b*tch!" ― Molly Weasley
"He can run faster than Severus Snape confronted with shampoo." — Fred Weasley
"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" ― Albus Dumbledore
"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living and above all, those who live without love." — Albus Dumbledore
